Text Box: There is an old saying when talking about making household budgets that if you can live on a dollar you can live on 90 cents. Now when most people talk about budgeting they talk about that 10 cents left over as savings for yourself. When we Christians talk about that 10 cents, we define it as returning back to God His tithe. As we Christians know, the return on our money is far greater when we give it to God's works than when we rely on our own. As the Bible says when we give to God's works so many blessings will rain down on us that they will overflow our storehouses. We have all heard Pastor George talk about the blessings we receive when we obey God's commandments over our lives. Returning to Him the first fruits of our labors is one of those commands. Sometimes in doing this it comes down to whether we believe and have faith in what is contained in His word or not. If we do then we obey because we know that is what He desires. Our world today and our economy certainly has it's challenges with high gas prices and all kinds of troubles. You just have to look at the paper or listen to the news to hear about them each day. We can try to tune out the news but that will not make them go away. A better solution is to turn to God in troubled times. As Christians we know that He is the answer to all of those problems if we will submit to His will. Giving to and in His name is one way to do that. We have that choice each week when Pastor George announces the collection. Will you answer that call with His 10 cents? Mike Powers Finance Committee

Y.E.P.P. is the Youth Empowerment Production Program; where kids will learn self-enrichment skills, meet various leaders within our community and learn how to produce their own mini-documentaries, that targets their peers with a positive message.
